Frequently Asked Questions

Will my health insurance cover therapy?

Your health insurance may cover mental health therapy. I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I don't accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. Should you choose to utilize out of network benefits, you will be provided a superbill to send to your insurance company for reimbursement of paid services.

I accept and work with clients utilizing Violent Crimes Compensation benefits for Alaskan residents.

Medicaid and Medicare: I do not accept Medicaid or Medicare nor bill Medicaid or Medicare. Places around Anchorage that may accept Medicaid or Medicare are: Anchorage Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS), Providence, Denali Family Services and Alaska Child and Family. Sliding scale services are located at Alaska Family Counseling, UAA Psychological Services Center (907) 786-1795 and for couples and family services contact Coastal Wellness and Counseling, LLC (907) 917-0191.

Why self-pay?

Your investment with self-pay has many advantages. You choose the therapist and services that fit your needs and allows them to provide you with individualized services and more care and attention. Other advantages include:

  • Information is not shared with third parties, such as insurance companies. So that means your privacy and confidentiality are much more protected.

  • Stigma of diagnosis can be avoided.

  • Sliding scales can be offered to self-pay clients. This means that self-paying clients can actually pay less than those who pay with insurance.

  • Some insurance companies only cover a certain amount of time. Self-pay clients are able to choose the focus, duration, and frequency of therapy. You are even allowed to choose the length of session.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens and sometimes you may not be able to attend a scheduled session. Please try to cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not attend a scheduled session or cancel 24 hours before your session, I will cancel future sessions until we are able to discuss options.

Clients are required to have a working credit card on file. If you have a second no-show to our scheduled time, you may be charged $75. Insurance will not reimburse for missed appointments.
